Many of us get confused between Digital Marketing and Internet Marketing. Some of you may say that both are same. The fact is that the Internet Marketing is one of the broad channels of Digital Marketing which confuses you to come to a conclusion that there is no difference between them. Digital Marketing:

Digital Marketing is utilizing different digital channels to market product, service or to build a brand. This is replacing the traditional marketing. Then, ads were confined to be given through newspapers, hoardings and pamphlets whereas now ads can go viral though different channels of Digital Marketing. The channels of Digital Marketing include Websites, SEO, Pay Per Click Campaigns, Banner Placement, Email Marketing, Mobile Marketing, SMS, Web TV, Social Media platforms, etc. which has a digital foundation.

Internet Marketing:

Internet Marketing as mentioned before, contributes more to Digital Marketing. It comprises of various channels like Website, Search Engine Marketing, Content Marketing, Social Media Marketing, Email Marketing, Mobile Marketing and Banner Advertisement.   • Website – Website is a set of interconnected pages with a home page hosted on same server usually. You can prepare, make changes and manage the information on website easily.   • Social Media Marketing (SMM) – Social Media Marketing is a component of Internet Marketing trending from few years because of increased users of social networking sites. Google+, Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube, Instagram, Pinterest, etc. are the social media sites with great interactions. So, anybody will be a fool if they miss out SMM which can give great reach.
  • Email Marketing – In spite of presence of other influential channels of Internet Marketing, Email Marketing has not faded and has maintained its position. If you create and schedule email campaigns by considering various metrics for the campaign, it has the power to convert visitors to customers.
  • Mobile Marketing – Mobile is a handy device and with invent of Smartphones, it has become easy for users to search the web. There are Apps available for different websites on the Smartphones with which people can get connected easily. Hence good number of traffic drives in through mobile phones, tablets, phablets, iPads, etc. You need to make sure that your website is responsive for providing great user experience for good results.
  • Banner Advertising – Banners are placed on various Websites, Mobile Apps, Social Networking Sites, Newsletters, Search Engines, etc. web properties. The banners may be in the format of Text, Static, Image, Animation, Video, Clever Banner, etc.

WWW vs non-WWW

You can have a domain with WWW or without WWW. But make sure that you are having only one kind of URL and not both. For instance, www.domainname.com is considered as sub domain of domainname.com and search engine ranking will be distributed between both URLs if users can access the page in both formats. As WWW is the most used URL type compared to non-WWW by the users, it is preferred to have domains with WWW and having redirects to the proper domain name for users who miss WWW while trying to access your website. You can check it yourself using Open Site Explorer. Even from technical point of view, WWW is preferable. If you are curious enough then you can check more on this.
